Description

Description: We offer an 1890’s cabinet photograph of the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City, Utah. The impressive oval dome of the Tabernacle rises above the carefully landscaped grounds of Temple Square, dwarfing the three figures in the foreground. The Mormon Tabernacle was built from 1863-1875 and was the site of the church’s semi-annual general conference until the larger LDS Conference Center was built in 2000. The building is renowned for its remarkable acoustics and the Tabernacle Choir has performed there for over 100 years.

Labelled in the negative along the bottom margin: “Mormon Tabernacle, Salt Lake City”. Verso has the backmark of C. R. Savage, a photographer in Salt Lake City.

4 1/4″ x 6 1/2″. Item #P00168

Condition: Light overall soil, short scratch in sky, wear at corners of mount, not affecting photo. Generally good condition.
