Description: In the fall of 1909, to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s “discovery” of the Hudson River and the 100th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s successful application of the paddle steamer on the river, a vast celebration was held at various places from New York City to Albany. This large original photograph shows the replica of Henry Hudson’s ship, the Half Moon, flying the Hudson Fulton Celebration flag. Dozens of people appear on the deck and on numerous row boats surrounding the ship. On the distant shore, one can see billboard advertisements for the new Kenmore Hotel in Albany and Peter J. Callan real estate.
7 1/2″ x 9 1/2″ image on a 12″ x 14″ mount that has the blindstamp of Albany, NY photography studio, The Obenhaus Co., at bottom right corner.
