Description: Cesare Siepi (1923-2010) was an Italian opera singer considered one of the finest basses of the post-war period. He debuted at the Royal Opera House in 1950 and appeared there often until the mid-1970s. He was a frequent performer at the Vienna State Opera as well. In this 5 ¾” x 3 ½” real photo postcard head and shoulder shot, he turns around–with an impish smile–in a seated position to face the camera. Signed by the Bologna photographer “A. Villani” in the negative. Signed boldly in ink at the blank space below the image: “Cesare Siepi”. .
