Description

Description: This print features a Bible verse lamenting about the transience of human life and affirming that only God’s love is constant. It reads: “The days of a man are like grass / he flowers like the flowers in the field / then the wind blows and he is gone / the sun never sees him again / only the love of God will be lasting / He will do justice to all who hold to His covenant / who hear His word and do it.” The print is titled “Psalm 102”, though the lines come from Psalm 103:15. Three flowers and a sun appear above the words and are colored with blue and green ink.

It is editioned, 15/100, and signed, “Mc.[?] Stanbrook,” in graphite beneath the image. The image appears on an 8 1/4″ x 8 1/8″ piece of brown paper that is adhered to a larger, blank sheet of folded laid paper that measures approximately 9″ x 9″. Item #DA00475

An inked note on verso states “Printed in Eng. at the Stanbrook Abbey Press. Stanbrook Abbey Press was run by the Benedictine nuns of Stanbrook Abbey in Worcestershire, England between 1957 and 1990.
