Description: We offer a group of four hand-colored copper engravings of Milan, Italy, from the mid-19th century. The engravings are 6 ⅝” x 9 ⅛” and tipped to blue clay coated paper (14 ⅛” x 18 ½”). Three views are horizontal, the Arco della Pace is vertical. All four engravings are lavishly hand-colored, with exquisite detailing and crisp highlights and shadows. The titles of the prints are as follows: Ospitale dei PP. Fate Bene Fratelli, Piazza de Mercanti, Imperiale e Regia Villa, and Arco della Pace. Item #PR00276.
Condition: The clay coated paper has suffered some losses, fading and staining. At the upper left margin of Piazza de Mercanti there is a 1” tear into the image. Overall the engravings are highly presentable and quite striking.
