Description: This brief, friendly 1958 typed letter is signed by former United States President Harry S. Truman. The letter reads: “Dear Dr. Franks: Thank you very much for your letter of March 25th. You were kind and thoughtful to write me as you did, and I am deeply appreciative.”
Typed on a sheet of “Harry S. Truman Independence, Missouri” imprinted stationery. Framed with an excellent original Pach Bros. portrait photograph of Truman to: 15″ x 19″. Sight size for letter: 8 1/2″ x 6 3/4″. Original transmittal envelope for letter (addressed to Dr. Myron Barkley Franks) is attached to back of frame. Item #A01671
Harry S. Truman was a farmer, haberdasher, county court judge, and World War I veteran before he was elected to the US Senate in 1934. After more than a decade representing Missouri as a Senator, he became Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Vice President in 1945 and succeeded to the Presidency after Roosevelt’s death. He was re-elected in 1948.
Condition: Mailing fold lines, otherwise very good condition with a large, bold signature. Not examined out of frame.
