Description: We offer a small stipple engraving of Mrs. Abington, the plate is 7”x 5” on heavy ivory wove paper measuring 11 ¼”x 8”. Titled and inscribed under the portrait; “Published by E. B. Daniell 32 Cranbourne Street. WC. January 14th 1891. Mrs . Abington. From a Drawing by R. Cosway R. A.” Item #PR00221.
Mrs. Frances Abington (1737-1815) was an English actress who performed at Drury Lane and Covent Garden.
Richard Cosway (1742-1821) was a leading English portrait painter of the Regency era, noted for his miniatures.
Frederick B. Daniell was a print dealer and publisher of “A Catalogue Raisonné of the Engraved Works of Richard Cosway.”
Condition: There are two repaired tears along the top margin, the paper is lightly soiled at the top and right margins. However the print is untrimmed and is in good presentable condition.
