Description: This striking original lithograph is part of a series by Sister Mary of the Compassion. It is signed lower right in the plate with her symbol. This image is titled: “No. II Jesus Takes Up His Cross” from the “Stations of the Cross” created in 1964.

Sister Mary of the Compassion was born Constance Dorothy Rowe in Wandsworth, England in 1908 (died 1977). She entered the Society of the Perpetual Rosary of Union City, New Jersey in 1938. She studied at the Clapham School of Art and the Royal College of Art and was a recipient of the internationally prestigious Prix de Rome.
