Description: This 410-page bound volume of 19th century music is titled: “Franz Liszt La Damnation de Faust Legende Dramatique en Quatre Parties Musique de Hector Berlioz”. It was published by S. Richault of Paris with wonderful full-page lithograph by Frederic Sorrieu as the frontispiece.

The title page is stamped “Walter J. Damrosch New-York” and the first few pages, as well as a few interior pages, have an “NBC” perforated stamp. There are a few pencil directions/notations scattered throughout, which we assume are Damrosch’s.

Walter Johannes Damrosch (1862-1950), American composer and conductor, was the director of the New York Symphony Orchestra. He recorded several albums with the National Broadcasting Company’s predecessor of the NBC Symphony Orchestra … “National Symphony Orchestra”.
