Description: This exquisitely detailed cast bronze depicts a Native American warrior with feathers in his long braided hair and a tomahawk in his left hand. It is signed on the back of his clothing: “Copyright Kauba Geschutzt 5365.”
Carl Kauba (1865-1922) was born in Vienna, Austria and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and at the Art Academies in Paris. He became fascinated with the American West though he probably never visited the U.S. He, however, crafted a stunning group of bronzes with polychrome finishes and intricate, realistic detail.

Condition: A small discoloration in the lower center of his “shirt”, otherwise very good condition.
