Description:  David Laird (1833-1914), the 3rd Lieutenant Governor of the Northwest Territories, Canada (1876-1881), boldly signed this closing of a letter: “I am, sir, your obedient servant, David Laird Lieutenant Governor of the North W. Territories”.
Before he was Lieutenant Governor, Laird served as a Member for the Canadian Parliament for Queen’s County and was made Minister of the Interior under Prime Minister Alexander Mackenzie. He paved the way for the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway and oversaw the creation of the Indian Act.

Condition: Some light toning, uneven edges, otherwise in very good condition and quite displayable.
