Description

Description: This tri-fold drink menu for the Hotel Lincoln is boldly signed by American jazz saxophonist Charlie Barnet (1913-1991). Barnet’s most popular recordings include: “Skyliner”, “Cherokee”, “The Wrong Idea”, “Scotch and Soda”, “In a Mizz”, and “Southland Shuffle”.

The menu lists the various cocktails, liquor, and beer that a patron at one of the Hotel Lincoln’s four fine restaurants could order. A Manhattan was 40 cents, an old fashioned was 50 cents and a bottle of Guinness was 60 cents. The verso of the menu advertises “In the Blue Room ‘The King of the Saxophone’ Charlie Barnet and his Orchestra Dinner and Supper Dancing.” John C. Bruno is listed as the Maitre d’Hotel on the verso. Bruno left the Hotel Lincoln in 1939.
