Description: This original black and white photograph shows a view of Canal Street in Whitehall, New York. A sign for E. C. Pratt & Co. Hardware Store can be seen at the top of one of the buildings toward the right end of the image. Part of the Champlain Canal can be seen running parallel to the road with a couple of bridges spanning the width of the water.
The Champlain Canal connects the Hudson River with Lake Champlain.
According to a 1983 article in The Whitehall Times, E.C. Pratt purchased the hardware store in 1895 when it was sold at auction by its former owner.

Condition: Loss at top left corner of mount, generally good condition with very good contrast and resolution.
