Description: Robert Helpmann (1909-1986), an Australian born ballet dancer, choreographer, actor, and director was a student apprentice to Anna Pavlova. He started his career as principal dancer at Viv-Wells Ballet which later became the Royal Ballet, London. He helped choreograph and starred in the classic film, The Red Shoes. In this sharp, 5 ¼” x 3 ½” dutch-angled headshot, Helpmann looks sideways away from the camera. Signed diagonally, “Robert Helpmann,” across the lower blank space.
