Description: English-American marine painter William Formby Halsall (1841-1919) signed this admission ticket to the Boston Art Club’s forty-fifth exhibition (probably 1899). The ticket admits “the Party” to the exhibition.
Halsall was a sailor for seven years and served in the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. He studied fresco painting, then marine painting at the Lowell Institute in Boston and was a founding member of the Provincetown Art Association.
