Description: This painterly landscape by Anna Brewster is titled on the verso on two gallery labels: “Cedar Swamp Pond, Matunuck, Rhode Island.” The Winthrop Gallery label numbers this #2014 and indicates it was painted “circa 1930-35.” A Roger King Gallery of Fine Art label has similar information. Painting is oil on canvas laid onto masonite. The verso is marked “2014 ARB Matunuck RI.”

Anna Richards Brewster (1870-1952), American painter, studied with William Merritt Chase and John LaFarge at the Art Students League of New York. She exhibited her works at the Royal Academy of Arts and the National Academy.
