Description: Known for his Adirondack landscapes, Decker regularly painted trees, especially blossoming apple trees. This painting is a perfect example of his expertise. It is painted on an 8 1/2″ x 12″ piece of academy board and signed lower right: “R. M. Decker”.

Robert Melvin Decker (1847-1921) was born in Troy, NY. He studied painting under the tutelage of R. Swain Gifford and eventually had studios in both Brooklyn and at Lake George, the Hague in the Adirondacks. He was widely exhibited during his lifetime at prestigious venues such as the National Academy of Design and the Brooklyn Art Association.

Condition: Framed in a modern gilded wood frame to: 12″ x 15″ which barely covers the perimeter of the painted surface (see photos of the board out of the frame). Very good condition.
