Description: This winter landscape is oil on canvas and signed lower right: “Newman”. Verso has remnants of exhibition labels for the Boston Art Club and the Worcester Art Museum titling this work: “Winter Afternoon” by the artist H. W. Newman with a 52 Broadway address.

Harry W. Newman (1873-1946) attended the Art Students League in New York and studied under Robert Henri and George Bridgman. He exhibited widely during his lifetime, including at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

Stretcher: 14″ x 10″. In modern carved and gilded frame to: 21″ x 16 1/2″. Item #FA00449
