Description: In this chatty autograph letter signed, Metcalf writes to a fellow artist and friend: “Thanks for your best wishes on the Newport show. They changed the opening… have sold 20 here before the show left; some of the sold ones I’m showing, but some I replaced so that there are still 19 for sale. There will be 35 or 36 in all — a pretty good summer’s work.”
Conger Metcalf (1914-1998) studied at Stone City Art Colony with Grant Wood and at Coe College with Marvin Cone. He is mostly known for his moody paintings of young boys. His works are in numerous art institutions including: Boston Athenaeum, DeCordova Museum in Lincoln, MA, and Cedar Rapids Art Center in Michigan.
This undated letter is written on three sides of two sheets of 8″ x 6″ stationery and is signed “Conger”. Item #A01296
