Description: The English writer Alfred Austin (1835-1913) was appointed Poet Laureate in 1896, four years after the previous Laureate, Alfred Lord Tennyson, died.
Austin has broadly scrawled 8 lines from a poem which appeared in his 1902 volume, "Haunts of Ancient Peace".
Written on a 9" x 7" sheet of paper. Item #A00543
Condition: In another hand lower left is written: "1902 Poet laureate of England." Light fold line, otherwise very good.
