Description: A friendly typed note to a fan interested in dog training: “The cocker spaniel is a splendid breed. Patience, commonsense, self-control and gentle firmness are the requirements for dog-training. Very many thanks for your kind praise of my work. I’ll try to keep it up to a standard that shall retain your approval. Wishing you much luck with the puppy…”
Albert Payson Terhune (1872-1942) is best remembered for his numerous collie-focused novels. He was also a noted breeder of collies, and this letter is on his illustrated “Sunnybank Collie Kennels” stationery featuring two half-tone images of collies.
