Description: In the fall of 1909, to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s “discovery” of the Hudson River and the 100th anniversary of Robert Fulton’s successful application of the paddle steamer on the river, a vast celebration was held at various places from New York City to Albany. These thirty original photographs capture different views of the people and attractions that were in attendance in Albany, NY during the Hudson Fulton Celebration. Some highlights include views of the ceremony on the Capitol steps, Governor Al Smith walking with Mayor William Hackett, the U.S. Airship Shenandoah in flight, and the replica of Henry Hudson’s Half Moon ship.
The photographs measure 3 1/4″ x 5″, except for one which is slightly smaller, and have typed identification in the blank margins. Each photo has a typed number on their versos, and all but one is stamped in purple ink: “Cuyler Reynolds, 197 Western Ave. Albany, N. Y.” Item #P00270
