Tony Hillerman (1925-2008) was a best-selling American detective fiction writer, mainly known for his works featuring the Navajo Nation Police officers Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee. He was a decorated WWII hero and also won the Edgar Award, among others, many times for his fiction. His mysteries have also been adapted for film and television.
