William F. Buckley Jr. (1925-2008) was a writer, public intellectual, and political commentator, and considered one of the most influential figures in the conservative movement in the United States. He established the conservative journal National Review in 1955, and was the host of Firing Line, a public affairs show from 1966 to 1999.
