Description: The poet William Stafford graciously responds to a fan that he is “happy to be blessed with so cordial a reader.” He adds that he is putting together a new collection for Harper & Row but unable to “identify helpfully” the poems being published in various periodicals. William Stafford (1914-1993) was an American poet and a pacifist. He wrote over 57 volumes of poetry. He was awarded the National Book Award for poetry in 1963 for Traveling Through the Dark.
