Description: In this two-page letter to a fellow bookseller, Cliff Graubart of The Old New York Bookshop, Lawrence Ferlinghetti graciously acknowledges the receipt of a monograph of his writing by Graubart’s friend in Italy, whom he soon hopes to visit in Rome. In a postscript he asks for bibliographical data of the book for his bibliographer. Signed, “Ciao & gracias – Lawerence Ferlinghetti”.
Hand written and signed on two sides of a 8 ½” x 5 ⅜” sheet of City Lights Booksellers & Publishers imprinted stationery. Includes City Lights transmittal envelope addressed to Cliff Graubart in Ferlinghetti”s hand..
Lauerence Ferlinghetti (1919-2021) was an American poet, painter, social activist and the co-founder of City Lights Booksellers & Publishers. He published many beat poets and in 1957 was famously arrested and, then acquitted, for publishing Alan Ginsberg’s Howl. He is best known for his second collection of poems A Coney Island of the Mind (1958).
