Description: This colorful montage of images incorporates a bust of a woman hovering over a caged pair of hands to striking effect. It is #142 of an edition of 200 and is signed in graphite lower right: “Grillo ’80”. Verso is stamped: “Old Pueblo Art Publishers 1979″. The 30″ x 22″ image is printed on heavy wove paper which measures: 34 1/2″ x 26”.

John Grillo (1917-2014) is a noted abstract expressionist who worked with vibrant color juxtapositions. He studied with Mark Rothko, Richard Diebenkorn, Hans Hofman, and other significant artists. His works are in the collections of the Guggenheim Museum, LA County Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, etc.
