Description: This somewhat surreal lithograph features a woman entangled with stair imagery on different planes. It is editioned and signed in graphite at the lower margin: “31/80 McClellan”. It is also signed and dated in the plate: “McC 64″.

John Ward McClellan (1908-1986) printmaker, painter, and sculptor, studied at the School of the Boston Museum and the Academie Julien in Paris. He settled in Woodstock, NY in the late 1930’s. His work is in the permanent collections of numerous prestigious art repositories, including: Metropolitan Art Museum, Smithsonian Institute, British Museum, etc.
