Description: The poet James Merrill signed a two-page typed copy of his poem “Breaking Through” (published in The New Yorker in 1962) with a manuscript note: “For Pamela – Come back to the Magic Village / Jim / April ‘61”

Typed and signed on an 11” x 8 ½” sheet of ivory paper with a small crown watermark (Eaton Corrasable Bond USA Berkshires). Item #A02075

James Merrill (1926-1995) was an American poet and writer who won the Pulitzer prize for poetry for Divine Comedies in 1977. His epic “surreal” narrative which dominated most of his career, The Changing Light at Sandover (1976-82), is in three volumes.

Condition: Mailing fold lines, a few small spots, several inked corrections. Generally in good condition.
