Walter Baxter (1915-1954) was a British novelist of the controversial novels, Look down in Mercy, and The Image and the Search. His first book which dealt with gay relationships received positive reviews; the second, however, that addressed a woman’s sexuality was deemed obscene, and Baxter was prosecuted but acquitted of obscenity charges. He gave up writing and became a successful restaurateur.

John (Giovanni) P. Pitcherale (1919?-1998) was a friend of The Boston Symphony Orchestra.  He is also listed as one of the principal correspondents in The Papers of Eleanor Roosevelt.
