Description: This booklet, Road to Rome, is inscribed and signed by U.S. Army General Mark Clark. The inked note reads: “To Erold B. Beach, Its a real pleasure to have your brother with me – his services are always performed in a superior manner. Mark W. Clark, Italy – Feb. 14, 1945.”
Mark Wayne Clark (1896-1984) served in World War I, World War II and in the Korean War. He was the youngest 4-star Army General during World War II.
Road to Rome was published to commemorate the Fifth Army’s time spent in Italy during World War II. Accompanied by a 3 3/4″ x 4 3/4″ black and white photograph of Clark pinning a medal to a young soldier, presumably the soldier referenced in the inscription. Item #A01993
Condition: Booklet has light wear at extremities, has a few scattered light marks in text. Generally very good condition, Clark’s signature is clear and bold.
