Description: The fiercely focused profile of English actor H. B. Warner was drawn and signed in pencil by artist H. Herrin. Warner has boldly signed in black ink in the bottom left corner of the portrait. The date “12-20-39” is written in pencil in the right blank margin.

Henry Byron Warner (1876-1958) was a popular actor during the silent film era, notably playing Jesus Christ in The King of Kings (1927). He also starred in numerous Frank Capra films, including It’s a Wonderful Life (1946), and Warner was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Chang in the original Lost Horizon (1937).

H. Herrin (1897-?) was a noted portrait artist and autograph collector. He was known for creating portraits of prominent people and then having those people sign their portraits. Herrin also did several Time magazine covers.

Drawn on a piece of cardstock that measures: 11 3/4″ x 9 1/4″. Image size: 7 3/4″ x 5 7/8″. Item #FA00409

Condition: Several tiny pinholes and light soil at the edges of the blank margins, and penciled  “W” at the lower left corner, which must have been some sort of alphabetical filing system.  Generally good condition.
