Description:  This two volume set of Francis Trevelyan Miller’s The World in the Air is signed by the author and the publisher, as well as seven pioneers of aeronautics of the United States, France, Great Britain and Germany: Henri Farman (first cross-country flight in Europe); Louis Bleriot (first airplane flight across the English Channel); Glenn L. Curtiss (first officially witnessed flight in North America); Major G. H. Scott (first Trans-Atlantic flight in an airship); Lieutenant Arthur Whitten Brown (navigator of the first non-stop transatlantic flight); Dr. Hugo Eckener (first airship flight around the world on the Graf Zeppelin); and Dr. Claude Dornier (builder of multi-engine aircraft). The signatures appear on five preliminary pages in the first volume.

This limited edition was published in 1930 by G. P. Putnam’s Sons of New York and London. Of 500 sets, this one is number 480. The books measure: 11 1/4″ x 8 3/4″. Both volumes are extensively illustrated. Item #A02016

Condition: Corners and spine ends are very lightly rubbed, previous owner’s signature on front free end papers of both volumes. Otherwise in very good condition.
