Description: In this Whistler-like etching, American artist John Winkler has created a bustling life on the Thames with a simplicity of line.

This view of the Waterloo Bridge is signed in the plate, as well as, in graphite at the lower margin. Platemark measures: 7 3/8" x 11 5/8" on a sheet of wove paper which measures: 11 1/2" x 18". Item #PR00356.

John William Winkler (1890-1979) was born in Austria, but at a young age arrived in San Francisco and established himself as a painter and printmaker. He was a member of the California Society of Etchers, Society of American Graphic Artists, Chicago Society of Etchers, etc. His works are housed in most major collections including: The Smithsonian, Metropolitan Museum, Victora & Albert Museum.

Condition: Two pieces of hinging tape at upper recto corners, otherwise very good condition.
