Description: Founder of the Eastman Kodak Company, George Eastman (1854-1932), exuberantly penned: “autograph of Geo Eastman” on a 2 7/8” x 6” piece of paper that has been pasted to a 3 7/8” x 6 5/8” captioned mount.
 
Eastman popularized photography for mainstream consumers by encouraging the use of roll film. He was also a major philanthropist, founding schools of dentistry and medicine as well as the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. He donated to numerous universities, including the Rochester Institute of Technology, MIT, and several historically black universities.
 
Includes the addressed half of the transmittal envelope which was sent to Mr. Henry S. Chapman of Schenectady, New York. The envelope is printed with the Rochester, NY address of the Eastman Kodak Company and has a Rochester circular postmark stamp dated February 7, 1923. Item #A00902.
 
Condition: Some errant light soil, faint paperclip mark (not touching signature), otherwise in very good condition with Eastman’s characteristically large signature.
