Description: William Howard Taft (1857-1930) was the 27th President of the United States (1909-1913) and served as the 10th Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1921 to 1930. During the intervening years Taft was politically active and was a Yale professor. It was during those years this check was written to a Katherine S. Witz on a Second National Bank of New Haven, CT account.
