Description: In this April 14, 1901 autograph letter signed in French, Saint-Saens laments the loss of his former music pupils… “all of them much younger than I. They are a loss which will always be felt and for which I shall never have consolation.”

Letter is written on a folded 7″ x 9″ sheet of black bordered mourning stationery. Item #A01489

Camille Saint-Saens (1835-1921), the French composer, organist, conductor, and pianist, held only one teaching post. This was for several years in the 1860’s at the Ecole de Musique Classique et Religieuse in Paris.

Condition: Mailing fold line, one penciled word of transcription, generally very good.
