Description: Signed boldly in black ink, this small card bears the signature of Montgomery Sicard (1836-1900) with his rank. Sicard was a naval officer who served during the Civil War and participated in several battles during the war, including the Battle of Forts Jackson and St. Philip, the capture of New Orleans, and the Vicksburg batteries. He served on a number of steam sloops throughout his naval career and commanded the Seneca, Pensacola, and the Saginaw. Sicard was promoted to Rear Admiral in 1897, taking command of the North Atlantic Squadron.
Card measures 2” x 3 ½” and is dated, in another hand, 1898. Item #A00621.
Condition: Some spots of transfer of ink, otherwise in very good condition.
