Description: We offer an original chromolithograph by Clay, Cosack and Company of an elaborate bell in silver and bronze. The image is 13 ¼” x 9 ¾” on a sheet of heavy paper measuring: 19 ½” x 14” overall. The print is titled across the lower margin: “Bell. Silver and Bronze Hadank & Son, Hoyerswerda, Germany, Clay, Cosack & Co, Chromo-Lith. Buffalo, N. Y.” Item #PR00365.
Printed for “Treasures of Art, Industry and Manufacture Represented in the American Centennial Exhibition at Philadelphia 1876” edited by C. B. Norton and published Cosack & Company, Buffalo, NY in 1877. This series of images were some of the finest chromolithographic works made in America at the time. The rich color, crisp details, and exacting proportions are still quite pleasing to modern sensibilities.
Condition: The image is clean and crisp with good color. The margins are full and free from any adhesive, though soiled with short edge tears.
