Description: This original CDV photograph depicts five “Shaker” sisters who had a booth at the Albany Sanitary Fair, part of the Sanitary Commission’s efforts to raise money for the Civil War. These women were, in fact, not Shakers but “society” women volunteers who dressed in Shaker garb.

Lower margin has the blindstamp of the photographers: “Churchill & Denison, 522 Broadway, Albany” [NY]. Ruled mount measures 4″ x 2 1/2″. Item #P00199

Condition: Fine condition with excellent contrast and resolution.
