Description: This wonderful collection of manuscript and printed material all pertains to Fairfield, New York and it’s Fairfield Academy and Seminary and, later, Military Academy.
The Academy was started in 1803 as a medical college. In 1813, a theological seminary incorporating liberal arts was established, and Fairfield Academy and Seminary became co-educational in 1839. In 1891, it became a Military Academy. Unable to compete with the growing number of schools, it had to close in 1903.
