Frances Maria Kelly (1790-1882), also known as Fanny, was an English actress and singer. She is best known for her acting at the Drury Lane Theatre in London’s West End and for establishing a drama school for young women which was originally named Miss Kelly’s Theatre and Dramatic School and later called the Royalty. Miss Kelly counted Charles Dickens and the Duke of Devonshire among her supporters and rebuffed a marriage proposal from English essayist and poet Charles Lamb.
