Description: We offer an enormous map of Yorkshire County published and authored by William Colling Hobson in London. The map is divided into two large linen backed sections measuring 50 ¼” by 32 ¾”, folded and presented in red cloth binding with gilt lettering and the original metal clasp. The title is elaborately decorated and boldly reads “Hobson’s New Survey of Yorkshire.” This edition was published in 1845, the first edition was published in 1843. The handsome bookplate indicates “R. Mitford” as the owner. Item #PR00335.

Condition: The extremities of the boards are somewhat bumped and scuffed. There is evidence of an early rebacking that retains pieces of the original spine cloth. The map has minor expected toning at the folds, otherwise it is in very good condition and retains good color delineating the regions of the county.
