Description: This important engraved map is in its original condition with period hand-colored county outlines, period linen backing and folded into its original boards.

Simeon DeWitt was the first Surveyor General of New York. He created the first definitive map of the state in 1802… a large wall map. This smaller version he produced two years later to reach a wider audience.

Map measures: 22″ x 27 1/2″ which folds into a 7 3/4″ x 5″ book. Item #AM00328

Condition: Recto has a few scattered spots, linen on verso has scattered foxing. Generally very good in well-worn paper and leather covered boards.
