This copy belonged to and is signed by Horatio Seymour, former Governor of New York as well as former Democratic nominee for U.S. President in the election of 1868, running against ultimate victor, Ulysses S. Grant. Red gilt-stamped leather over boards, all edges gilt, frontispiece portrait of Major Nicholas Stoner 287 pages, Appendix, illustrated with frontispiece and 3 plates. Covers stained, spine heavily worn, leather chipped almost completely away, corners also worn, rubbing to leather on boards, spine cocked, pages foxed/stained, frontispiece tissue torn out, still a highly readable copy that was owned and signed by Horatio Seymour.
