Two volumes: half leather with marbled paper over boards, gilt-stamping on spine, marbled end papers and text block edges, Vol. I has 382 pages, Vol. II has 376. Volumes have all 46 listed plates plus two illustrated titles. First edition, first state with “actresses” on p. 207, line 33 of Vol. I, as well as chapters 47 & 48 being incorrectly numbered as 48 & 49 in Vol. I.
