Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Bound by Bayntun, of Bath, England. Half gilt-stamped leather and green cloth over boards, 5 raised bands, gilt text block, marbled end papers, (vi), 386 pages, illustrated with many steel engravings from drawings by Birket Foster. Some light staining on covers, small chips to leather towards bottom edges, some dampstains throughout, sometimes affecting text and plates, the Cologne steel engraving faces page 345 instead of 45, toning on end papers, some light foxing scattered throughout, overall very good and still highly readable.
