Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Dark blue gilt stamped cloth over boards, [6], 73 pages, [2], Index, illustrated with black-and-white photographs, each article written by a different author, many of them professors at Union College. Inside front cover art two stamps indicating the book previously belonged to a school, corners and spine ends lightly worn, covers scuffed/lightly soiled, a little gilt loss on front cover illustration, bottom corner front free endpaper slightly wrinkled, interior pages very lightly toned around perimeter, a few small remnants of a paper which was glued inside back cover. “The historical papers embraced in this volume were written, is a labor of love, to make available to the public, and especially to the youth, a brief recital of the more important events of the city’s history.” Includes chapters on Indian Occupation, Dutch Settlement, Revolutionary War Period, The City and the College, Canals and Railroads, Civil War Period, Old Schenectady, Modern Schenectady, Mohawk River Bridges at Schenectady.
