Size: Octavo (standard book size). Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Front board is nearly detached. From the library of playwright Clifford Odets; his embossed name stamp is on the front free end paper. Odets is considered the defining American playwright of the 1930s and revered as one of drama’s greatest crusaders for social justice. Red gilt stamped leather and marbled paper over boards, 48 pages (there are numerous blank pages following the last page of text), For the Prosecution Attorney General, Albert C. Green; for the Prisoner, J. L. Tillinghast & John Whipple. Front board nearly detached (text block binding is sound, however), wear at corners, spine ends and along edges of boards, covers rubbed, interior foxed (but not so much as to interfere with easy reading of the text), pages toned, last page is trimmed a bit closely on the bottom edge so that a two line Error notation has the second line cut off, the rear free end paper has a vertical crease as well as a vertical tear half that runs halfway down the page.
