Description: The grandiose City Hall building of Norwich, CT is almost perfectly framed by trees in this original late 19th century photograph.

Norwich City Hall is located at Union Street and Broadway, prominently overlooking the city’s central business district. Built between 1870-73, when Norwich was still only a town, it has served as the seat of municipal government since then. Architecturally it is a prominent statewide example of civic Second Empire architecture, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 (as Norwich Town Hall) for its architecture and history.

Image measures 4 3/8″ x 7 1/4″ on a gilt-edged plain mount to: 5 1/4″ x 8 3/8″. There is a pencil note on the verso identifying the building, as well as an offset image of a photograph of four people. Item #P00315

Condition: Light soil on mount, corners bumped, generally very good condition.
